iMin(mineral) program was implemented at First Quantum Minerals, Kansanshi Copper Mine, Zambia in November 2014. The program was implemented by Dr Will Goodall, MinAssist Pty Ltd and formed the basis of the current iMin(mineral) offering. It represents the only sustained example of automated mineralogy used for routine on-site mineralogical analysis.
Increased Operational Revenue
The program has identified numerous continuous improvement opportunities across the three concentrator circuits and hydrometallurgy circuit at Kansanshi. Information from the operational mineralogy program has been directly attributable to increases in revenue of US$1.5M per annum within the first quarter of operation and is now routinely used to support process optimisation projects across the site.
